The Wesleyan Covenant Association of North Georgia is the local affiliate of a global network of Spirit-filled churches that desire to remain faithful to traditional Wesleyan theology. We are committed to maintaining biblical principles while working to spread the Good News of the Gospel around the world. We affirm that the core of the Christian faith is revealed in Scripture and we look to the Bible as the ultimate authority.
The Wesleyan Covenant Association of North Georgia seeks to partner with like-minded laity, clergy, churches and all those who desire to be faithful followers of Jesus Christ and to “be doers of the word, and not hearers only.” (James 1:22) Our disagreement is much deeper than questioning which acts are, or are not, sinful. It is about biblical authority.
It is our hope that the painful, decades-long conflict within the United Methodist Church finally will be resolved and allow all our energies to be focused on our mission, vision and purpose of the church: to love God, love his people, and to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
As followers of Jesus, we seek to live together in obedience to Christ’s teachings as found in Holy Scripture (Matthew 28:20). We know Christ authoritatively through the revelation of God’s Word. We believe “all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful … so that [we] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
We will remain prayerful that the General Conference will be held in August 2022, and it will approve the Protocol for Reconciliation and Grace through Separation, which will allow our denomination to finally move forward, through an amicable separation.
